Workers clean up an estimated 20,000-gallon raw sewage spill on Highway 4 at Discovery Bay Boulevard Monday. Preliminary investigation revealed that the cause might have been a burst pipe.
Another raw sewage spill, this time on Highway 4 near Discovery Bay Boulevard, has spread an estimated 20,000 gallons of wastewater onto the streets and nearby golf course, leaving beleaguered town officials to wonder when such incidents will end.

Oakley is getting ready to party like it’s 1999. On Monday night the City Council discussed plans for a year-long celebration of the 10th anniversary of the city’s incorporation that will kick off at the annual Cityhood Celebration on July 4.

The California Department of Water Resources is proposing a plan to improve the health of the Delta ecosystem by installing flow gates at Three Mile Slough and/or West False River.

As residents and local agencies throughout East County continue to grapple with the details of a proposal backed by the state and federal governments to improve water quality and habitat conditions in the Delta, the Discovery Bay CSD Board is preparing to respond to a state agency’s request for public input on the Frank’s Tract Project.

With just a little more than a week left before the opening of her outdoor skating rink, what’s keeping Lynn Roberts awake at night are not visions of sugarplums. Instead, what’s dancing inside the head of the former professional ice skater are twinkling lights, frozen ice and 450 pairs of rental skates.
